Favorites and Flops…

Friday Favorites and Flops

It’s been forever since I’ve blogged regularly, and I miss it so much.

To get back in the swing of posting on a schedule, I’m bringing back my Writing Wednesdays (anything and everything to do with writing, publishing and marketing.) and starting Friday Favorites and Flops (anything I may have heard, seen, eaten or done during the week.)

Happy Spring! I hope it’s warmer where you are.

Here just south of Philadelphia our mornings are still in the 30’s. My plants seem to be waking up a bit so the warm air must be on the way.

The most favorite thing for me this week was Opening Day for baseball. My Phillies won 10-4!

For me, baseball (and all sports) has always been a part of my life. There’s a lot of buzz for fans here in Philly because of the acquisitions of Andrew McCutchen and Bryce Harper. Rhys Hoskins doesn’t have to do it alone now.
McCutchen or Cutch is an outfielder who previously played for the Pirates, the Giants and the Yankees. So far I like him. He and his wife Maria have the most adorable baby boy named Steel who looks so cute in the red and white!

I lost excitement for Harper during the loooong negotiations. It felt like Philly wasn’t his “first choice,” and that hurt my Phan Pheelings. I’ve changed my mind, or at least I’m starting to warm up to him after seeing the excitement in the eyes of a lot of kids. There’s also the ticket and merchandise sales and they are adding up already. AND the fact that Nationals fans are defacing or destroying his jerseys is kind of sweet😊I look forward to seeing what him and his wife Kayla do beyond baseball here in the Philadelphia area.
One thing is for sure, we don’t have any “bad” hitters. I’m predicting a ton of walks. My biggest fear is our pitching. You can’t always have everything☹

So; the Mueller Mess has come to an end or is it a beginning? Does anyone really care?

My husband and I are serious binge watchers (when we find something we both like).

We started Blind Spot on Tuesday and finished the first season (23 episodes) on Thursday.  4 episodes into the 2nd season and we are hooked. The production reminds me of 24. Its action packed. It has the right mix of intrigue, romantic tension and violence.
This weekend we won’t be watching much TV  because four of our granddaughters will be here. We’re planning to see Dumbo. The reviews haven’t been great; but we can’t resist a chance to spend time with our favorite little people.

Last weekend I drove our granddaughter Julia back to Albright College.

On the way home, in traffic an 18-year-old ran into the back of my car. It was minor (except of course the cost to fix it) Thank God. I did bang my funnybone on the door handle. That was awful for a few minutes. I felt so bad for the kid but am so grateful neither one of us was hurt.

I’ll be starting to write my 3rd fiction book on Monday and am hoping I can finish it in six-weeks.
~~

For the past three Fridays I held a workshop at a senior center.

It started with a talk I did for them on International Woman’s Day on Our Forgotten Women. In the workshop I taught them how to document their important memories for their families, and I also taught them how to write a memoir. They were so enthusiastic. The stories they held for so long were so fascinating. I was in awe and look forward to reading their books.

When it comes to baking, I can make it taste delicious but struggle with presentation.

I practiced with a no bake cheesecake this week. I’m getting there, I think. Can I just tell you it was SOOO good!
No Bake Cheesecake

                                                                                             Ingredients

Pre- made graham cracker crust
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons of real lemon juice
2 tablespoons of real vanilla
1 an ½ packages of cream cheese softened
1/3 cup of sour cream
2 tablespoons of milk

Cream sugar and cream cheese together in a large bowl. Add milk and sour cream. Mix on low until blended. Add vanilla and mix on low until blended. Add lemon and blend on high until mixture is creamy. If mixture is too thick add a few drops of milk until its smooth and creamy. Scoop into the crust and spread. Chill for 2 hours. Add your favorite topping or just add some graham cracker crumbs.
