Friday Favorites, Flops and Food
I couldn’t be happier to see this crazy week come to an end. All in all it was a good one, but I’m looking forward to spending Easter Sunday with my family and eating candy!
Flops
If you follow the news, you’re either thrilled about no collusion & obstruction or your thrilled that there was collusion & obstruction. Once again, proof that words can be spun to fit any narrative. It’s a wash and a waste of 32 million dollars. What a flop!
The fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in France is devastating. I can’t shake the feeling that it was arson. 7 other churches across France burned last week too and the number of church fires over the past year is staggering.
Favorites
My husband had several health scares over the last few weeks. This week the news from his doctors was all positive. He’s still facing a surgery in a few months, but it isn’t nearly as serious as they first thought. We are both so relieved.
I’m part of a committee of wonderful women that meet all year to plan and to prepare for The Girlfriend Gala. The gala is a fundraiser to support nontraditional female college students. The event is one of my favorites every year. After all the work it’s magical to see it all come together.
Isn’t this interesting?
I’m planning to copy it in my yard. I’ll keep you posted.
Spring may finally be here in the Philadelphia area. We had a 70+ degree day one day! Today it’s stormy. It’s Good Friday so the weather fits.
We have this large tree in our yard that we love, but it’s sick and the diagnosis isn’t good. When it bloomed, I was so excited. I call her my faire tree. Do you see the little white flowers?
I took 4 granddaughters to see a 5th granddaughter’s college softball game. She can’t play this year because she’s recovering from ankle surgery, but it was the team’s fundraiser and we wanted to support them.
There’s one in every family
We finally finished our marathon binge watch of Blind Spot. Now we’ll be waiting all week for the next episode, and the current season is almost over. We need another series.
Friend Kate and me, had plans to spend Tuesday writing at the library. We figured we’d have few distractions and would get a lot done. Instead I locked myself out of the house, she came to my rescue and it became obvious we wouldn’t get much writing done because we had a Family Promise board meeting. We went to lunch instead.
Slice It Up in Havertown Pa. was decorated so cute!
We both had the BBQ Cheddar and Bacon Burger and split Cheesesteak Egg Rolls. It was SO good! I can’t wait to go back and try the gluten-free pizza.
My faire tree isn’t doing well, and the diagnosis isn’t good. My heart was so happy to see her bloom. The flowers are on the small side, do you see them there? On the other hand our yard is a MESS! I can’t wait to make it pretty.
Food
We both had late meetings the other day and were starving when we got home. I needed something fast and good. This recipe is one of our favorites.
Chicken and Rice
2 chicken breasts
Olive oil
Golds sweet and sour sauce
2 bags of Success Boil in Bag Rice
2 cups of fresh or frozen veggies/ I used broccoli
Butter sea salt and pepper
Brown chicken breasts in olive oil. Add a cup of water and simmer for 10 minutes on each side. Drain and cut chicken into bite size pieces. Put back in frying pan. Add a few pats of butter or margarine and cover the chicken lightly with the sweet and sour sauce.
Cook the rice. Drain, put in large bowl and season with sea salt and pepper. Cook the veggies, drain and add to rice.
Heat and stir the chicken, butter and sauce. Once hot add to rice, veggies and stir.
It’s quick, easy and delicious!
Have a Blessed Easter or Passover,
Doreen

Hi Doreen,
This is great! Thanks for highligting Michael’s Pizza place – Slice it Up.
You found it!!
Doreen, I heard about the other churches in France as well and heard someone on the radio say if it was a deliberate fire, officials probably wouldn’t say anything. The deliberate destruction of Notre Dame would result in terrible payback on the streets of France. xoxo, B
