Foodie Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for a stand-alone post, but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations, “Heard” items, and other small gems throughout your week and put them together in a Friday Fragments post. Add a recipe or something ‘foodie’ from your week. Leave me a link in the comments so I can read your fragments!
The original host of Friday Fragments was Mrs. 4444’s. You can find some of those posts here:
half past kissin’ time to kiss again.
Our roller-coaster weather continues here in Philly. What a mess today! What did I do to amuse myself while waiting for the torrential rain to slow down before I got out of the car? I took pictures.
The payoff in lush green grass and leaves and the beautiful flowers will be so worth it.
My first granddaughter, Allyson attends school 10-minutes away. She’s packing her dorm up today and heading home for the summer. I’m really going to miss her. It feels like empty nest 2.0☹
Whichever way you happen to lean politically we all have to admit it isn’t boring. I wish everyone would just get back to their lives.
I’m really curious to know what the numbers are for newspaper sales since Donald Trump came down that escalator. Wouldn’t it be funny if he created the ‘Fake News’ war to actually sell newspapers. I can’t help but wonder if he has stock in any major papers or if he is friends with any owners.
The Summer Movie Line-Up is kind of Blah! This weekend Guardians of the Universe II is expected to top 100 million dollars. The reviews are good. I don’t think I could handle the 3D.
On Friday May 12th Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy & almost 50 Shades but he backed out) is back in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. This is one I’m looking forward to only because I’m a Charlie fan.
Also releasing May 12th is Fox’s Snatched starring Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer as a mother and daughter that are kidnapped in Ecuador. People actually do get kidnapped in Ecuador so I’m not sure it will be that funny. Joan Cusack and Wanda Sykes are also in this one.
Oh my. Baywatch releases May 25th
I loved Wonder Woman. What are the chances the movie opening June 2nd will be any good?
Are you excited about these or any other early summer releases?
How did I never crave McDonald’s chicken nuggets until I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease? I’ve also been craving pasta. Following my dieticians advice I’m shopping the outer aisles of the supermarket. Spaghetti Squash caught my eye. It wasn’t a pretty process but the end result was so good.
Spaghetti Squash & Meatballs
1 large Spaghetti Squash
3 tablespoons butter melted
Salt & Pepper
I used a bag of Trader Joes Meatballs
1 can of Hunts diced tomatoes
1 small can of Hunts tomato paste
1 can of Hunts sauce
½ cup onion diced
2 teaspoons diced garlic
Bay leaf
I put the sauces, meatballs, garlic, onion and bay leaf in the slow cooker on low for 3 ½ hours stirring occasionally.
The Squash was not easy to cut in half. After the fact, I read that if you microwave it for 2- minutes it’s easier to slice. Place each ½ on a cookie sheet. Brush with butter and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake at 350 for 50-minutes.
Remove from oven and let sit for 5-minutes. Take a fork and scrape lengthwise until noodles form.
Add sauce, meatballs and parmesan cheese.
The noodles were slightly crunchy. I may not have baked it long enough but I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was!
Have a Blessed Weekend,
Doreen

I haven’t seen Goldie Hawn in a long time. Have missed her. Your recipe sure looks yummy.
We saw G.of the G. yesterday and enjoyed it so much. Great ratings out here in CA.
Looking forward to King Arthur. Lead actor was Ragnor (?) in Vikings series. He was brutal.
