Comfort Food Foodie Friday Fragments…

Friday Fragments…

Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for a stand-alone post, but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations, “Heard” items, and other small gems throughout your week and put them together in a Friday Fragments post. Add a recipe or something ‘foodie’ from your week. Leave me a link in the comments so I can read your fragments!

On the 3rd Wednesday of every month I attend a Press Club Luncheon. I enjoy most of the guest speakers we have but this past week our speakers were interesting and actually fun. They brought puppets; they actually design/build and operate puppets. They were cute too, the guys and the puppets!

Monkey Boys Productions  is a unique multi-medium production company that creates puppets, props, creatures, costumes, practical effects, and entertainment for film, television, and stage.

Co-founders Michael Latini and Marc Petrosino blend their experience in the entertainment field, their unique sense of fun, and their clients’ needs, along with old and new techniques, to create stunning work.

These guys built the props, including the moving podium for the Melissa McCarthy/ Sean Spicer skit on Saturday Night Live. Have you seen the skit?

How cool is that?

Could politics be more interesting? I know some are so upset but I am definitely not in the camp that thinks it’s the end of the world. I think it’s all so fascinating to watch and I’m confident when all the dust settles we will all be better off for it all. As far as the health care bill being trashed, I couldn’t be happier. This is exactly what I hoped would happen. That new health care bill was just a mirror image of Obama Care. They need to put together something that works for everyone and it needs to be 100 pages or less. Honestly I wish they would just repeal Obama Care and not replace it at all. When the Government gets involved it creates too much paperwork, too much bureaucracy and it always cost more! I would prefer they allow health insurance to be purchased over state lines and then let the markets scramble to pick up the pieces. The best companies will win the consumers and the prices will drop dramatically. For those low income seniors and families, Medicaid needs to cover them and it needs to be fixed so good doctors will accept it. For those that voted for President Trump, they are not upset with him at all. I think most if not all are disappointed, even furious with Paul Ryan for trying to sell BS.

Are you following the April the giraffe saga? I have said all along her name is April and that baby giraffe will be born in April. I’m hoping for April Fool’s Day. She has been pregnant for 18-months now and her baby will be six-feet-tall at birth.

Who is participating in the A-Z April Blogging Challenge? This is my 5th year. My theme this year is going to be writing, because I wrote a book on writing. News on and the cover reveal for Realize Your Writing Dreams is coming soon! For more information on the Challenge:

I am looking forward to a busy Spring season. For SCORE I’m presenting 4-seminars on marketing. The NJ SCBWI is the first week of June. Registration opens Sunday! / I’m presenting a workshop there on book marketing. The second week of June is The Philadelphia Writers Conference  and I am presenting a three day workshop on The Truth about Memoir. Registration opens April 1st!

The 3rd week of June is our family beach week and I cannot wait!

I haven’t had much TV time this past week. My DVR is pretty full. I did catch up with the drama on the Beverly Hills Housewives and Vanderpump Rules. Tom and Katie get married this Monday! I was sad to hear Nick and Sonja from Married at First Sight filed for divorce

I didn’t have a lot of time for cooking this week but I did put together something so good together in the slow cooker. I’m calling it Chicken Comfort. It was like thick and creamy chicken soup. Delicious!

4 tablespoons of butter

3 tablespoons chopped garlic

1 onion

1 family size can of Cream of Chicken Soup

1 package of egg noodles

1 can of peas

2 tablespoons of 21 Seasoning Salute

2 teaspoons of sea salt

2 teaspoons of black pepper

1 tablespoon of basil

3 large boneless chicken breasts cut into strips

Turn slow cooker on high. Add cream of chicken soup and a full can of water. Stir.

In a large skillet melt the butter then add onion and garlic. Sauté for 2 minutes then add the chicken strips. Flip the chicken several times until it is browned (or whitend.) Sprinkle the chicken with the basil, salt, seasoning and pepper. Cook another 2 minutes and add to slow cooker and stir. Turn temperature down to low and cook for 4-hours.

Cook and drain noodles. Add to slow cooker. Stir in the peas. Heat for another half hour and serve.

What are your weekend plans? I will be doing some writing and revising; creating a slide show for Monday’s Resisting Happiness Series and attending a Neumann University Baseball Game with my granddaughter Allyson. Her boyfriend, Danny is playing.

Have a Blessed Weekend,

Doreen
