Writing Wednesday
Wednesday is the day I like to share information, tips and inspiration with writers and bloggers. The kind of information that I wish someone would have shared with me back then.
I stopped making New Year’s Resolutions many years ago for the usual reason. I never, ever accomplished them and I was so tired of the feeling of failure. I would start out every January promising myself I was going to exercise, eat right, visit more people; become serious about my writing and so on and so on.
There are many reasons I failed every single year but the main reason is because my resolutions were entirely too vague. I knew exactly what I wanted to accomplish but didn’t take the time to figure out how to make it happen. I had no plans for beginning or finishing.
Tired of failing I decided on creating specific goals and a map for success for myself and my business, a plan.
I didn’t accomplish all of my 2015 goals. This year I will be more specific and my list will be shorter and more realistically attainable. I am also planning to reevaluate and adjust my map monthly if needed.
I’m a bit late getting my goals together for 2016. The New Year arrives the same time every year, how is it that it seems to arrive faster with each passing year?
How about you? Do you make resolutions, goals or neither? Can you believe we are in the last few weeks of 2015?
Happy Writing,
Doreen
The official release date is January 26, 2016 but my publisher is offering a pre-sale:

I don’t know how it is that I don’t have time for my goals, but that’s my excuse. I am hoping 2016 is better. So my goal is to be better about my goals. LOL Happy Writing Wed to you!
I am having trouble with time to make the list too!
I don’t make New Year’s resolutions, because I have a habit of breaking them, and making the same ones each year, anyway. So that tells me something…instead, I make promises to myself throughout the year as things crop up that need fixing – and I make sure they are REALISTIC promises.
Realistic is always good!
I can’t believe that 2015 is nearly over either! As for me, I do not like the term New years resolutions. Instead I like to focus on the positive things that I do get accomplished. Thanks for your writing wednesday’s because I enjoy them.
Positive is always good!
I stopped making them. Funny, this year I was going to try once again. We will see how that goes lol. Wishing you and yours the best News Years ever!
Good luck and Happy Holidays to you!
I do make them, but rarely keep them. Congrats on your book!
Thank you Janie!
At least you made me THINK about my goals! Don’t do resolutions…find them to be a negative influence. But goals are good…working on that, thanks to you. Can’t wait for your book!
I am still thinking about my goals list for 2016. The book is releasing 1/26. I’m going to hold off until the chance of bad weather is over for the party.
