I’m here and it’s Friday…

It has been awhile since I have participated in Friday Fragments and I have missed the opportunity to share tidbits from my week.

Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for a stand-alone post, but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations, “Heard” items, other small gems and put them together in a Friday Fragments post. Then leave a link to your Friday Fragments post and link back to our host Mrs. 4444 at Half-Past Kissin’ Time.

It’s not too late to join in on the fun and we would love to have you!

The best news of my week is the cover for The Stranger In My Recliner is on the drawing board and I cannot wait to share it with you. (I hope I like it, I am going to love it, I hope I love it) I am just a bit nervous.

I have the first cold I have had in at least two-years. I kind of forgot how awful they are.

The workshops I have been facilitating (along with an amazing committee) have been better than I could have imagined. I cannot believe there are only two more (one is our writing workshop, I cannot wait) and then we will have a fair. I am already looking forward to the next season.

Workshop Paparazzi

We had our warmest day in months yesterday, it was 66 degrees and sunny for forty-five-minutes before the downpours started. Today it is freezing again. Freezing cold, windy and raining again. I am trying to be patient. Hurry up Spring!

My Mom is going on her dream vacation. She has been missing my Dad terribly so I am thrilled for her and so proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone and taking a Viking Cruise. Have you heard about these things? A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Her traveling buddy is her high school bff. They are going to have a blast.

Viking River Cruise

They will be flying Lufthansa and I admit to being slightly unnerved. I am guessing their security will be heightened, even though there wasn’t much security could have done to avert this intentional crash. Crazy scary isn’t this whole suicide/crash thing?

Are you getting excited for the next presidential election yet? Oh my I can hardly wait. Ted Cruz announced and was immediately attacked by the media for being a one-term senator and for not being born in the U.S.  Sound familiar?

I just saw that Hillary supporters sent a warning to the media stating that they will be reading and watching for ‘coded’ sexism and if they find it they will report on it. What is coded sexism? Making fun of a pantsuit? It was kind of rude.

I am not looking forward to the messiness of it all.

Who is participating in the A-Z April Blogging Challenge this year? This will be my 4th year. I am still excited! There is still plenty of time to sign up and give it a try:

My big -bunch -of -grandbabies continue to get older and there are no signs of any new ones on the horizon. I am not complaining thirteen is enough for now and I am so grateful for each and every one of them.

I had so much fun shopping for a prom dress for my oldest granddaughter. She graduated last year but her bf is still in high school. I can’t show any photos yet but she promised I could when the big night gets here.

My next oldest granddaughter (15) is being bullied, again. More on that in its’ own post but I am furious at the way it is not being handled.

Have a blessed weekend,

Doreen

  1. Lufthansa is an excellent airline and has a good safety record. These sorts of acts cannot be predicted and I do hope your mom enjoys her cruise. I am not a cruise-er, but think I’d enjoy one along the river.

  2. I wish I lived close to you to take part in the workshops that you give. With you as a teacher I know I’d love them!

I love your fragments series, so glad about your mom and the grandbabies and, of course, about the prom dress.

Take care of that cold, Doreen!

  3. thirteen grandkids – that’s a good number. We are about to reach 8 this summer.
Reading between the lines (can lead to dangerous assumptions) I believe we might be on opposite sides of “the political aisle”. That’s ok with me. I think people on opposite sides should talk and exchange ideas.

    1. They are my lucky bunch! I am so much in the center politically but on some issues I sway one way and on others I sway the other. I am a party’s nightmare because I vote for the person.

  4. My kids fly Lufthansa all the time and thinks it is a wonderful airline. My mom made a similar trip/cruise and I am sure your mom will have a wonderful time.

  5. Well, Doreen…you’re a busy beaver. I really am so disappointed I can’t seem to make to those Press Club Seminars. They seem amazing.Ugh. So glad you’re doing it next year! Prom dress shopping sounds amazing…I did WEDDING DRESS shopping twice last week…so my writing is suffering too. But who cares? Fun with daughters is the best. Can’t wait for your next book. Keep goin’ girl!

    1. I had a twinge of nervousness being in a bridal shop with my oldest granddaughter. She assures me wedding dress shopping is not going to happen any time soon. Her 5-yr.-old sister picked out her wedding dress. Oh my.

  6. Yeah that weird pilot-crashing-the-plane thing is horrifying. But the safest time to fly is probably right after something like that happens. And in fact, in general, flying is one of the safest things you can do. Congrats on the book!

  7. I heard on the news this morning that the co-pilot took a six months medical leave for his depression a while ago. To me, the airline had an obligation to monitor that situation. How horrible for those passengers!

    Congrats on your rewarding workshops!!

I wonder what “for Tina” means on the A to Z challenge button.

Grandkids…I’m really looking forward to some! 🙂

Thanks for linking up, Doreen! Have a great weekend.

  8. Glad your mom is getting to go on a Viking cruise — we’re going on one, too! I dread the whole upcoming election but, of course, Ted Cruz should be called out for not being born in the U.S. He was born in Canada! How quickly the Republicans forget attacking Obama, who was actually born here. I’m sorry that your granddaughter is experiencing bullying and I hope it stops. We need to find a way to end bullying once and for all.
