Last weekend I went to North Carolina to bring my friend Tina home. Tina has been down there for four months taking care of our friend Joelle who is battling cancer. On Saturday night, Joelle’s church, New Horizons in Durham was hosting a concert/fundraiser for her. Actually five churches from the Durham area came together as one, in support of Joelle. It was beautiful.
It was sad leaving Joelle and the kids but we left her in capable hands. Her husband Nat will be home from Afghanistan on December 12.
I got back to Philadelphia last Sunday night and oh my, it was freezing. I had to leave the house Monday morning at six a.m. and it was snowing. It did not amount to much but yikes, I am not ready for that stuff, yet.
I told you all, my husband sold his snowplow, right? I am guessing that is the reason we will have record- breaking snow this winter.
Did you watch the country music awards last week? I thought Carrie and Brad did a good job, a bit cheesy in parts but I thought the show was good. They gave a tribute to Kenny Rogers that was touching.
I wasn’t sure I liked where Sons of Anarchy was going with the story line but the writers tied it up nicely on last Tuesday’s episode. I just never know what is coming next with that show. That’s why I like it so much.
I am not saying anything about health care or politics other than this is all SO embarrassing.
One of our guest speakers at the Press Club lunch this month is Sharon Pinkenson, she is the executive director of the Philadelphia film office. Her story is interesting. She originally designed clothing and was quite successful, went on to work in the film industry and now she works to encourage producers to film in Philadelphia. We are also having Kyle Lowder (YIKES) who was Rick Forrester on the Bold and the beautiful, Brady Black on Days of our Life and now he will be starring in the title role of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I think Wednesday’s lunch will be exciting. Did I mention it is open to the public, for those of you in the area.
