On 8/28 it will be 1 year since John and I quit smoking.  I still want a cigarette pretty bad; but no
worries that is not going to happen. What did happen was between not smoking and emergency gall bladder
surgery I have an extra 20 pounds.  They are a pesky bunch of pounds and they need to find a new home, the sooner the
better.

My sweet granddaughter Allyson will be 16, OMGoodness there I said it…Yikes!  Anyway I always make the invitations for her
birthday parties and this one will be special.
We went out on Thursday to get some of the supplies.  I will show you the finished product.  I cannot believe she will be a junior and we
spent most of our time out and about discussing colleges.  The thought of her driving is scaring me
terribly.

Fellow Tate author and friend Vanessa Hancock Prather is anxiously awaiting delivery
of her first ‘real’ books.  That UPS guy has
no idea what she has in store for him when he knocks on the door with “Friday
Lunch.”~~Would you all stop over and give her some good luck love.  I just love the name of her blog too http://sandcastlesandsnowforts.blogspot.com

Did I tell you all I have events?  I do and I cannot wait to share them with youI
also got that e-mail I was waiting for from my publisher.  “BRISTOL bOYZ STOMP” is headed for the presses!
[Insert happy dance here!]

I have a client that is 90ish and hard of hearing.  She also has short-term memory loss (I canrelate) anyway I walk in and she says okay dear sit down and tell me about your book.   So I do 11 times.  The whole entire story of the book and how itcame to be.  I realize we have a crowd. I forget that she is deaf and I must speak very loud.  I apologize for being so loud and another sweet 90ish woman says don’t worry dear, such a sad story.  God has you repeating it over and over to
desensitize you because he knows how many times you are going to have to tellyour story. [Insert angel moment chills here.]

I am almost finished reading “How to Break 10 Common Childhood Myths” by Diane
and Chad Finkbeiner (Mother and Son.)  So far I am appreciating their common sense approach to teaching and parenting.

Please keep all of those prayers and good thoughts coming for my Dad.  His cancer ‘spot’ is shrinking but he feels
like he has sunburn and he was unable to speak with me last night or
tonight.  I will be going to Florida very
soon. But certainly after Irene has said goodnight..her timing is awful. My Dad is in good spirits but feeling so sick.  I HATE CANCER!!!

My challenge to not speak or think anything negative for an entire week has been
challenging.  I have yet to make anentire week.  I am getting there though,
so I am determined to keep trying.  I am also trying to do one act of random kindness everyday…secretly.  This is fun; seriously it is!!

The Phillies are doing so well!!

Go Phillies!!

Favorite Quote of the week; actually I have several this week:

You cannot blame anyone but yourself if you stumble twice over the same stone.

Have the moral stamina to stand firmly for right, truth and justice.

Acquire the habit of being faithful to friendships and responsibilities.

The greatest pleasure in life is to do a good turn in secret and have it discovered by accident.

May you all have a blessed weekend!

Doreen

P.S.  Why do you have to be so mean?    http://youtu.be/1CPrzNr1b14
