As of New Years 2011 and my goals for this New Year I have been applying the program 100/0 to my life. I have decided to do everything thing I do 100%. My marraige; my family; my job (all 3 jobs) will get 100% of what I have to give and I will expect nothing in return; nothing. 100/0. It was not easy at first but I am quickly learning the less I expect the more I receive.
Anyway; a few weeks ago the temperature in the Philadelphia area finally reached 80. That meant it was time for me to join my husband on the back of his Harley for my first ride of the season. I put on my oh so very cute official Harley Davidson outfit, strapped on my helmet and off we went. I love hanging on tight to the strongest, kindest, smartest and most loving man I have ever known.

For the past several years we have been stopping at the “Rita’s Water Ice” at 5060 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, Pa. I love that we have memories and traditions.
The story of Rita’s Water Ice dates back to the sweltering summer of 1984 when Tom Tumola, a former Philadelphia fire fighter, decided to open a small Italian Ice store to augment his income. He opened his first store in Bensalem (a Philadelphia suburb) and named the store for his wife. By 1996 Rita’s had grown to 100 stores in 9 states. In 2005 the business was sold to McKnight Capitol Partners. The number of stores has doubled. In the Philadelphia area it is cheesesteaks and Rita’s. Double Yummy!!

As we sat on the bench enjoying our Gilati’s; a mix of Italian ice and frozen custard…very good… (I had the black cherry and John had the chocolate) we found ourselves deep into conversation (not unusual).

When we realized the time we quickly left and headed for home. Later that night John discovered his wallet was missing. Panick; fright and a few other emotions came over us as we retraced our steps. John was positive he left it on the bench at the very crowded Rita’s. It was 10:10 p.m. and chances someone was still there were slim and even slimmer they would answer the phone if they were there. John called anyway. A young woman answered and said yes someone had turned a wallet in and she would keep it safe until John could return to pick it up. Thank you mystery good samaritan for turning the wallet in and thank you Rita’s employee for being honest and kind. We thank you both from the bottom of our hearts.

This reaffirmed for me that 99% of the human race are good decent people. The other 1% consists of all sorts of criminals, thugs, bully’s and just plain envious and mean people.
Regardless of popular belief good things do happen to good people.
