I have a Friend I would like you to meet….

I am a firm believer in ‘’everything happens for a reason’’ and ‘’people are put in front of us for a purpose’’.  John and I attended our local newspaper’s blog fair expecting to meet a few local bloggers.

What we did not expect was to meet other local authors.  We were so pleasantly surprised to meet a few and were so impressed with one children’s  author, Pam Mariani.  I cannot wait to share her work with you.

Pam Mariani

“…and BABY makes a FAMILY…The family puppy, Leta, tells the exciting story of when their family adopted their very special little girl.

The author has written her books to share her happiness, by telling the very story that was told to her, by her parents. She dedicates her books to all those in the world of adoption who are making families happen.  That my friend’s makes Pam, one of my favorite people.

The second book in the series is “Dingles Special Day”.  Dingles, a dog at the ASPCA, gets adopted by a special little girl, “Beakaroo.”  It was love at first sight:)

Pam (Phyllis Ann) Mariani is a member of the Press Club Serving the Philadelphia Suburbs and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. She is amazingly generous and makes yearly donations to children’s organizations, both local and abroad, from her book sales. How awesome is it that she does not charge appearance fees? (sign her up).

I fell in love with Pam’s books because they involve kids, dogs, adoption and the ASPCA, and these all happen to be some of my most favorite things.  I also fell in love with the stories.  The writing is appropriate and timely as well as timeless.

The illustrations jump off the page and immediately grab the reader.  The artist W.F. Hawkinson-a native Californian started his career in animation at ‘Terry Toons’ in New Rochelle, New York working on Mighty Mouse, Gandy Goose and Farmer Alfalfa.  After a stint in the Army, he went to work with Disney.  His work there included Woody the Woodpecker and Felix the Cat just to name a few.  One of his many favorites, including Pam’s series, was animating Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Pam put so much of her heart and soul into these stories and it is evident.  She is currently preparing to join the blogging world (and when she does I will surely re-introduce her).  Until then if you would like more information or  to order the books, coloring books, animals or tote bags please feel free to contact Pam personally:

A must read for grades Pre-K through 3 it can also be used at any grade level to ignite a spirited discussion on adoption.  Judy Hedtke, Librarian/Member of the Philadelphia Archdiocesan Library Curriculum Committee

Please show Pam some comment love and let her know just how much she needs to be blogging with us….

Thanks for reading,

Doreen
