Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for a stand-alone post, but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations, “Heard” items, and other small gems and put them together in a Friday Fragments post. Then visit our lovely host Mrs. 4444 and leave a link to your Friday Fragments…
I would love to read your Fragment’s. Sign up here:

We are getting really excited about our Florida trip. My husband and I are taking five of our grandkids to Daytona Beach. They are 8, 11, 11, 12 and 14. We will be leaving next Friday morning. I made maps for the kids; do you think that will limit the “are we there yet” questions? The kids will be here Thursday night. We are going to introduce them to Clark Griswold and the Vacation Movie’s.
I had another surgery on Wednesday. A few years ago I broke my jaw and it never healed correctly. Bone fragments unlike Friday fragments were causing a lot of infections. There was supposed to be a series of ten surgeries over two years. Two more were added because of infections. This one was the worst so far. The good news is it was number seven so there only four more of them to get through.
I feel the way this poor little blob fish looks:
The season premiere of Hell on Wheels was last Saturday night. It was all good except for still not finding out Elam’s (Common) fate. I have always been fascinated with that time in our country’s history.
My Wednesday writing group is doing a 40,000 word August challenge. I didn’t have enough going on so I signed on. I started slow but have caught up. I have edited 10,000 words. I had wild dreams of finishing before the trip but realistically that probably won’t happen.
I was so excited to see another one of my posts up on the Midlife Blvd. site. This one is a story about summer love. I recommend this site highly. It is full of all kinds of great information and a great group of bloggers.

What do you have left to do on your summer bucket list?
Have a blessed weekend,
Doreen

Good God, i love how you slipped in news of your surgery. Quick healing I Hope!
Thank you, Carol. This one is tough. Cannot wait til they are all done!
Our grandchildren think we are old fashioned because we use maps instead of GPS. Have a wonderful trip!
Thank you. We will be using GPS and maps.
Oh dear! I hope you are feeling better soon. I have never seen a blob fish before – wow!
🙂

Thank you, I feel much better today. That is one ugly fish!
I love the idea of “fragments” — so many little things happen all the time that might be worth mentioning but not dwelling on — like your surgery (and you thought you could sneak that in without fanfare) — and little proud moments like your 10,000 edited words!
…I hope they got all the “fragments” they could from your jaw and that you are finding a bit of comfort.
I love Friday Fragments, no stress involved! You should try it.
I am feeling so much better today.
Fast healing, my friend. Safe travels and have loads of fun and live in every moment.
P.S. I could have done without the image of the blog fish. I love all creatures “great and small”, but that would take me a longer time to love. Poor thing.
I agree, that is one ugly fish.
Friday Fragments is a great idea! And your trip sounds like so much fun.
Friday Fragments are a lot of fun and a great group of bloggers. You should try it!
I think I dated that blog fish once in college…
OMGoodness. My husband probably feels like he is married to that fish, my face is so swollen!
Oh, Doreen, I’m so sorry about the ongoing surgeries, but what a blessing to have such a wonderful trip to look forward to–and a nice bonus that 5 of the grandkids get to join you.
I really enjoy reading your Fragments. Such a clever idea!
Thank you so much Mary! I think we are more excited about the trip than the kids are.
Okay, so I have to admit I think that blob fish is kind of adorable. I hope you’re healing from your surgery — I’m so sorry you have to go through those and if I lived closer, I’d be bringing you ice cream.
That crazy fish is growing on me too. Ice cream sounds pretty good about now!
Oh that fish! Eek! Thanks for the tips. Sounds like a fun trip and I hope that you are feeling better. My Summer is full and I’ve done a lot but mine won’t be over until the end of September.
I agree. Ugly fish, the poor thing. How sad that he is growing on me.
The beach is beautiful in September!
That fish has to be one of the ugliest things I’ve seen in a long time. I didn’t think it was real at first. I love this Friday Fragments idea. I think I might like to try it.
Sending prayers for a speedy recovery.
It is one ugly fish!
We would LOVE to have you join us for Friday Fragments!
We traveled a lot when our children were young and let the kids help navigate using maps we had highlighted our route on really did help both to reduce the ‘are we there yet’ questions and teach them how to read maps. We also found games such as 20 questions, the Alphabet game and license plate game to be very helpful.
Ouch that is a lot of surgeries. I hope you are healing quickly and that the remaining surgeries go smoothly.
Wow, 40,000 words, that is quite a challenge. I will definitely check out the Midlife Blvd. site. But first I really need to read your posts on self publishing, as my main goal for this summer is to publish at least one of my books.
Have a great weekend and a wonderful trip with the grands
I wish you the best of luck getting something published!
Good luck in Daytona (watch out for the bacteria problem they are having). Hope to hear more about your 40K challenge.
We are definitely not going in the water. Between the bacteria and the sharks, yikes. We have a pool at the house and that should keep the kids happy!
