Here it goes a full (very full) week in one post…

On Monday October15th we were planning to drive to Florida after work @7p.m.  On Monday morning, my stepson Michael was admitted to the hospital and then transferred to a trauma hospital and put in intensive care. He had air in his chest??? I am still confused by that… Anyway at 6:00 p.m. they said his tests came back negative so he would not need surgery. We were prepared to cancel the trip and I would fly down for the book event and come right home. When the news was good and Michael’s Mom arrived from Ohio, we decided to go.

We started driving at 8:00p.m. For some reason we decided to stop in Virginia for the night around midnight. It was raining and had been a stressful day and we were still worried about Michael.

We overslept and did not start out on Tuesday until after 10:00 a.m. We decided to drive 200 miles before we stopped to eat. At 150 miles we had a blowout. It was scary. Thank God, John was able to pull the truck over without too much damage to the wheel. The tire was in great condition when we started and we still have no idea what happened but that tire was shredded. It is nothing short of a miracle that 3 hours later we were back on the road and us, the truck and the motorcycle were okay. We did not have a part needed to get the spare tire from under the truck, the truck fell off the jack and did not crush John, my husband is a genius he made everything work. Once we started rolling again we realized had we driven half way like we normally do the blowout would have happened in the middle of the night. Cracker Barrel never tasted so good!

Trying to find a radio station to listen to the debate on Tuesday night while driving was trying. We arrived at my parents house in Port Orange, Florida at 11:00 p.m.

At 2:30 on Wednesday, my marketing guy called to tell me my books had not arrived at the Barnes & Noble in Daytona Beach. The event was at 3:30. I got so upset but luckily the store had 13 on hand and I (actually John) had 20 in the truck (that I forgot were even there.) The event was to celebrate teachers and I met some really nice teachers and had so much fun. I was also invited to a local school to talk about story mapping.

On Thursday bike-week started. The weather was in the middle 80’s. We had a great time visiting my parents and my sister-in-law and her family. My Dad is looking so good and healthy. He is starting to gain back some weight. He is still having some breathing issues and does still get tired but wow what a miracle. (he battled lung cancer all last year.)

I wanted to stop and visit my friend Joelle in North Carolina (she has been battling cancer too) but we just ran out of time. My friend Tina and I will be visiting her in a few weeks. Thank you all for praying for Joelle and her family. She had a great report from the doctors and we are hoping and praying for a clear pet scan in December. Her husband had to ship back to Afghanistan so please continue to keep her and her family in your prayers.

The fall foliage on the drive home was breathtaking.

We arrived home at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. At 8:00 John took Michael back to the hospital. They left the hospital in the wee hours of the morning with a diagnosis of pancreatitis. I’m not buying that one, stay tuned…

Lance and Louie (our dogs) did not run away while we were gone…so relieved and thankful to my brother-in-law and niece for taking such good care of them.

I made a comment (political) on a local radio show hosts facebook page basically thanking him for his coverage of the election. A woman wrote this in reply “YOU ARE A VERY STUPID WOMAN DOREEN.” Now that hurt my feelings and made me laugh at the same time.

I was so happy to come home to a review, an interview and then a mention of my book again in a 3rd post at:

http://libraryendofuniverse.blogspot.com I would love to have you stop over and comment, you could even win a copy of the book and it is a great blog…

I feel like I could go on and on but I won’t. Have a great weekend everyone!

If you can’t sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there worrying.  It’s the worry that gets you, not the lack of sleep.  ~Dale Carnegie
