Welcome all Insecure Writers..

Writing Wednesday

This is a place for writers to express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

We post the first Wednesday of every month.

This is our official Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. You can also choose to answer the question of the month if you’d like.

Join in here:

Be sure to visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer

Aim for a dozen new people each time  and please return comments. This group is all about connecting so be sure to link to this page and display the badge in your post. And please be sure your avatar links back to your blog! Otherwise, when you leave a comment, people can’t find you to comment back.

July 1 question (answering is optional)-

There have been many industry changes in the last decade, so what are some changes you would like to see happen in the next decade?

My first book was published 9 years-ago. That was a three year frustrating struggle and oh how I wish I knew then what I know now.  My second book came out 4 years-ago and again, while easier than the first book my luck fell flat when my publisher was indicted and went out of business shortly after release day.

My third book was released March 17th just as the Pandemic and shut down hit:(

It would be safe to say that the first change I would like to see happen in the next decade would be my luck. LOL.

I’d also like to see all of the scammy publishers and agents shoved to the curb and for fake reviewers to go out to the trash with them!

My biggest hope for the industry is for us authors to continue to support and be there for each other.

How about you, what changes would you like to see?

The awesome co-hosts for the July 1 posting of the IWSG are Jenni Enzor, Beth Camp, Liesbet, Tyrean Martinson, and Sandra Cox!

  1. Don’t forget that there’s not only scammy publishers and agents, but authors who are scammers, too. It’s those scammers (the authors) who really make it tough for the rest of us.

  2. Oof. I can imagine that would be tough. My first book came out seven years ago, and I haven’t done well in the luck department either, but I keep on writing.
I hope we both have a better new decade starting now or next year!

  3. “I’d also like to see all of the scammy publishers and agents shoved to the curb.”

Ad the ever-expanding crew of internet “let’s make you homogenous” editors. All I want from an editor is to spot the clams. Most of them haven’t a clue about content. I get more mileage out of Pro Writing Aid (I am not a shill) spotting redundancies and style issues than I’ve ever gotten for $ editors. Layperson beta readers as well.

Yes, we, as writers and humans need to be a force, not a piece of the pie.
    Thanks for the words!

  4. Your first suggestion of having better luck made me smile. So sorry that your launch came right before the pandemic. And yes, it would be great if there were no more scammers or fake reviewers in our industry.
