IWSG badge

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak.Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer – aim for a dozen new people each time.   WRITING WEDNESDAY

Typewriter Pink

Wednesday is also the day that I like to share writing, publishing and marketing information that I have learned on my journey to becoming a full time writer.

~~~~~~~
My second book, The Stranger In My Recliner was released on January 26. The release day for this book was SO different (in a good way) than the one for my first book, Bristol boyz Stomp! I have learned so much since that first release and although this release was much smoother I still have more to learn.
Two months from today is the first day of the 2016 A-Z Blogging Challenge. Have you signed up? If not you can do so here and also read all about it!
http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com
This will be the 4th year I have participated. Have you chosen a theme or will you go theme less? I haven’t chosen my theme yet but I am hoping to have that figured out and to have a few posts pre-written before the February IWSG posting. Just typing that stirred some insecurity!
The sign-up reminder for the challenge reminds me that although there is still snow on the ground, spring is coming and so are the writer’s conferences, workshops and other writerly networking type events.
Snow 2014 Newtown Square
Are you planning to attend any this spring?
Here are a few to consider:
Blogging Conference- http://bloggersatmidlife.com (I’m speaking at this one)
Writer’s Conference –http://pwcwriters.org/why-the-philadelphia-writers-conference/2015-workshops-and-events (I am attending this one)
This sight has a large, eclectic state by state list:
They say everyone has a story and it is absolutely true. It is also true that anyone can write a book or have one ghost, or co-written. Entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, realtors, stylist, or any business person that has written a book will be hands down more successful at not only getting more attention from the public, but also getting media attention. Having a book catapults you above the crowd of others in the same business with similar education, experience, and success level. You will be considered an expert in your field and greatly increase your visibility and your credibility. So how do you go about becoming an author and how do you decide what kind of a book to write?
  1. I signed up for A to Z this week. I don’t have a theme, yet, but I have some ideas. I’ve always used a theme. It helps. I often use my characters Millie and Willie. They’re fun to write. I’m just over halfway through your book. Sophie’s story is sad, and confusing, as you say. You have a big heart.
  2. I did the A to Z one year but didn’t blog every day though I intended to. I didn’t use a theme, though. Perhaps that would work for me.
    I hope you have a good time at your conferences. I haven’t been to a conference myself.
  3. Congrats on your release and all your speaking engagements! I’d love to hear in a future IWSG post what you learned with your second release vs the first.
    I will be passing on A to Z as I’m focusing my efforts outside of blogging to where my potential readers hang out: Instagram and twitter. I follow a number of blogs who do the challenge, so I usually comment. I agree, themes are vital! I did a few fun ones over the years.
    I’m writing about social media overload today with a few resource links on how to better focus your efforts: My IWSG post: Stephanie Scott
  4. I’ve signed up for A to Z. I did it last year and found it to be a lot of fun. This year, I’m going to try it with a theme. Still working through exactly what that theme will be and how it will play out, but I’m feeling like it’s quite do-able. Looking forward to your A to Z posts 🙂
  5. Congrats on your new release. I second Stephanie and would like to hear a comparison about the 2 releases. (When you get a chance of course – looks like you’ll be pretty busy for a while!)
  6. The Blogging from A to Z Challenge promises to be a great motivational tool. Great idea and wishing you and the participates tremendous success.
  7. Congrats on our release and thanks so much for the links and info. You are full of good ideas… Chalked full up this post was! Thanks for visiting my blog, and sorry it took so long to get back to you! Better late than never they say!
  8. Congrats on the release, Doreen! 🙂
    Hopefully I’ll get to read your books one day.
    I love the sound of The Stranger In My Recliner.
    I’m all signed up for the A to Z, just need to decide on a theme.
