What are you watching?

Its time for Friday Fragments and as usual (lately) I’m late but technically it is 3:30 p.m. on Friday so here I go…

It’s HOT in Philadelphia and from what I’m hearing it’s pretty much HOT everywhere. I love it (usually) but while recovering from jaw surgery it is a bit much. L The inside of my car registered 111 degrees. For some reason I cannot seem to remember, I have remote start and can cool the car off before I have to leave. Duh!

wet feet                                                            Wishful thinking

My surgery went better than my doctors expected. The pain is manageable but wow, I am starving. Do you have any ideas for soft, gluten free foods? I am getting tired of eggs, jello, pudding, milkshakes, soup and potatoes.

I am on hold with the water company. Every two seconds a recording tells me how many callers are ahead of me. Its been five callers for like twenty minutes. We had a leak and the rep that was here to find the leak told me to call customer service for a leak credit. J I did not even know I had a leak it was nothing we could see, our bill was a bit higher than normal so they offered to come check it out. We avoided a much bigger problem. I will try to keep that in mind as I wait…

A squirrel fell out of our tree and died. I’m so traumatized, poor little suburban rat.

So, who is anxiously waiting for the royal baby? I know it is silly but I’m excited. As a grandmother, I am feeling sad for William that his mother is not here. I kind of want them to have a girl.

The news media, talk shows, newspapers and some blogs have me so stressed out. That may explain my ever growing fascination with reality TV. You know because it is SO not reality. While stuck in bed recovering from surgery I watched seven episodes of ‘I’m pregnant and so is my Teen’. First of all did you ever know anyone who was pregnant the same time as their daughter? Some of the stories were beautiful but oh my, some were heartbreaking.

John and I discovered a show called Hell on Wheels. It is based on a true story, set in the time of expanding the railroad west. We both like the show. The new season starts in August.

What are you watching?

Have a great weekend,

Doreen

  • calling any utility company can drive you crazy…

  • I caught a glimpse of the royal baby on television (poor child, already in the spotlight, but guess it comes with the territory.) Not sure I’d want that for my child. Oh, well …
    Hope you feel better soon!

  • Lori:

Wow, hope you’re recovering well from jaw surgery. I’m on baby watch too, although by now, you probably already know she had it. But just in case you didn’t know, I won’t tell you what it was. But yes, I’m a little sad Diana isn’t here to see it too. I’ll have to check out Hell on Wheels. I don’t watch too many reality shows, other than So You Think You Can Dance. I like Elementary, the show about a modern Sherlock Holmes.
Oh, and the Zion I was talking about on my post is Zion, Utah. Beautiful. Sorry, I couldn’t reply to your email, it was one of those “no-reply blogger” thingies.
Hope you had a good weekend! 🙂

    • Thanks Lori, I am finally starting to feel a bit normal again. I was on twitter all day yesterday not wanting to miss the ‘baby’ moment. I admit I thought of my own grandkids and Diana and shed a tear.

  • Hope your healing keeps progressing well. I think smoothies are good and love yogurt too. TV? Comedies and that rare movie which is well worth a two hour investment. Take care.

  • Nita:

I’m pretty clueless when it comes to gluten free, but just in case maybe yogurt would be a nice addition to your soft diet. Hope you mend quickly. I try not to watch or read too much NEWS it isn’t good for the blood pressure. That show sounds interesting.

    • Thank you Nita. I forgot about yogurt. This surgery was the 3rd and hopefully last. After the first I ate SO much yogurt I havn’t wanted to look at it. I think I’m ready to try it again.

  • I totally understand your feelings about the squirrel. I saw a bird in a strange position by my house this AM. I was sure he was dead. I got so upset and sad for him. But apparently he was just resting because he got up and flew away

  • Thanks for stopping by. It does sound like we’re sort of neighbors:) Sorry to hear about your jaw surgery. Gluten free and soft that you haven’t mentioned. Naked brand smoothies are good. Or any type of smoothie. Not much different than pudding, but it’s fruit w/ protein. Do you like yogurt? Mashed banasas?

  • Pam:

I’m watching for the royal baby. I wondered, just this morning, why I am watching. I think it’s because of how much I liked Diana and because I watched her boys grow up ‘with’ my girls. Mud and stumps? No thanks. My yard looks bad enough without all that. LOL

  • I’m glad your surgery is behind you, and you are getting better. A soft diet isn’t very ‘filling’ is it? Sorry I can’t think of a wider variety of foods to suggest. Hang in there!

As for what I’m watching, Ed and I have been watching a new show called “Naked and Afraid”. OMG, the things people will put themselves through! It’s almost difficult to watch, at times. We’ve also become intrigued by another new show, “Under the Dome”.

I haven’t been able to let myself get ‘caught up’ in the royal baby watch. I did when Diana was pregnant, though. I agree, it’s sad that she’s not here for the birth of her first grandchild.

My weekend has been a stressful one, so far. Watching my yard become a disaster zone is tough! It’s so wet here, the tree trimmer’s equipment has made a mess of our yard. They worked for a day and a half, then got rained out. They’re about 2/3 finished. Mud and stumps are everywhere! I keep telling myself, this, too, shall pass… The mud will dry, the stumps will be ground up, and eventually, the grass will return.

Have a good weekend, and get well soon!
