My theme this year is Keep Moving Forward…

Yearly

I stopped making New Year resolutions ages ago because they only lasted a few days or maybe a few weeks. I decided a list of goals was a better plan for me and that worked so much better. I rarely finished all of my goals but I always made a good dent in my list. I now include a word of the year. This year my word is organization. My organizing was going so well, until April. My schedule was full and included traveling. On top of that I signed up for my fourth year of not only participating in but helping with the A-to-Z Challenge. I fell behind twice because I wasn’t prepared. I was determined to finish and I am going to work harder at being prepared.

Positively Powerful Thinking…

This month I am participating in the annual A-Z Challenge. You can find out more about the challenge here:

A-Z 2016 badge

This month has been an above and beyond busy month for me and I am not complaining because the busy has been all positive! For the first time in my five-years of A-Z Challenges, I have fallen behind. I have plenty of excuses, I traveled to Las Vegas to speak at the most amazing conference, #BAMC16, traveled home on a redeye (what the hell was I thinking?) and have been promoting my new book, The Stranger In My Recliner. All of that +my beloved coaching clients and ghostwriting clients may be keeping me so busy I have fallen behind but all of them also give me the energy to Keep Moving Forward and to always think positive. It would be so easy to give up and take a nap but staying positive is an amazing superpower!

Today’s letter is the letter O

Obsessive-Compulsive-Disorder [OCD]

OCD is a series of irrational thoughts or fears that cause you to repeat behaviors that you believe will cause the irrational thoughts and fears to stop.

This or one of the many other mental health conditions can make it very difficult to move forward without support from friends and family and/or treatment. With support and treatment though, moving forward is possible!

With one breath I want to say I am so glad the A-Z Blogging Challenge is over and with my next breath I miss it so much and I am already looking forward to and planning for next year.

This was my third year of participating and my first year as an ambassador. It was also the first year I had a theme and also the first year I pre-wrote some of my posts. Being prepared certainly did take some of the stress away and I plan to pre-write even more next year.

Each day of the month (except Sundays) we will post something based on that days correlating letter. Some of us chose a theme and others are winging it. My theme is the A-to-Z’s of Mental Health, Raising Awareness. It is a topic that is very close to my heart. I hope you find the posts interesting and you will comment and share the posts everywhere. GRIEF

Unfortunately grief is something I know too much about.  I lost my father suddenly in January. Two weeks later I lost a friend. In February I lost one of my closest friends after a seventeen-month battle with cancer.

In 1969 psychiatrist, Elizabeth Kubler Ross wrote one of the most influential books in the history of psychiatry. The book, On Death and Dying, exposed the heartless treatment of terminally ill patients that was the norm at the time.

In her book, Dr. Ross introduces us to the five-stages of grief:
