All the Insecure Writers Raise Your Hands…

It’s the first Wednesday of the month and that means it’s time for the monthly meeting of the Insecure Writers Support Group.

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds! Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer – aim for a dozen new people each time.

Foodie Friday Fragments Taco Style…

FRIDAY FRAGMENTS

I apologize this post is late. WordPress issues.

Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for an entire post but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations. “Heard” items, and other small gems throughout your week and put them together in a Friday Fragments Post. Add a recipe or something ‘foodie’ from your week. Leave me a link in the comments so I can read your Fragments.

On the 3rd Wednesday of every month I attend a Press Club Luncheon. I enjoy most of the guest speakers we have but this past week our speakers were interesting and actually fun. They brought puppets; they actually design/build and operate puppets. They were cute too, the guys and the puppets!

Monkey Boys Productions  is a unique multi-medium production company that creates puppets, props, creatures, costumes, practical effects, and entertainment for film, television, and stage.

Are You Ready for the A-Z Challenge?

WRITING WEDNESDAY

It is almost time for the annual A-Z Blogging Challenge and you will definitely need to go to the website to catch up! There are a few major changes this year.

So what exactly is the A-Z Blogging Challenge?

Can you post every day except Sundays during this month?  And to up the bar, can you blog thematically from

A toZ?

Most of the time if you subtract Sundays from April, you then have 26 days–one day for each letter of the alphabet.  When April 1st lands on a Sunday you begin on that day which will be the only Sunday you would post during that month’s challenge.

Using this premise, you would start beginning April First with a topic themed on something with the letter A, then on April second another topic with the letter B as the theme, and so on until you finish on April thirtieth with the theme based on the letter Z.  It doesn’t even have to be a word–it can be a proper noun, the letter used as a symbol, or the letter itself.  The theme of the day is the letter scheduled for that day.

There you have it. My theme this year is Writing, Publishing and Marketing because my next book, Realize Your Writing Dreams will be releasing this summer! I hope you will accept the challenge.

For more info on the challenge visit the official web site:

Happy writing,

It’s #MusicMonday featuring Philly Cuzz…

MUSIC MONDAY

My father was in the airline business so as a child our vacations always involved first-class air travel, exotic locations and 5-star hotels. Looking back now I am so grateful for the opportunities I had and the wonderful memories. I remember waiting on our front porch in the Somerton section of Northeast Philadelphia for my parents to gather my younger siblings and our luggage. Dressed in my best Sunday dress and those darn pinching Mary Jane shoes I watched several of our neighbors getting ready to leave on their vacations. They all had station wagons and were all headed ‘down the shore.’ The kids were dressed in their Ked’s and shorts and looked so happy as they packed picnic baskets, beach toys and towels into the back of their cars. I thought they were so lucky. That is probably why I love Doo Wop music and the Jersey Shore so much today!

Once my aunt and uncle purchased a home in Ocean City I was lucky enough to visit. My grandmother was the one that usually took us and what fun that drive was. My cousins and I would beg her to keep pushing the buttons on the radio until our favorite songs would come on. We would wind down the windows and sing as loud as we could.

Whenever I hear Doo Wop music my mind immediately floods with memories of the Jersey Shore. We are now sharing our shore memories and making new ones with our grandchildren and introducing them to our favorite summertime music.

Today I would like to introduce you to (if you don’t already know him) Philly ‘Cuzz’ Battaglia. Philadelphia has launched many talented performers and Cuzz is definitely on that list. He is a songwriter, pianist, singer and producer. He is introducing Doo Wop to a national audience and when my grandkids love it I know it’s cool again!

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

The Nor-Easter/blizzard was sort of a bust but it was still 6 or 7 inches of snow with an inch of ice on top of that. It was pretty until I had to go out to present a workshop an hour and 15 minutes away.

Writing Wednesday The Proposal

Proposal Writing

I was always more a sit down and write kind of writer until I started writing books and taking on freelance work. I found myself procrastinating and easily distracted by new and shinier things that came across my laptop screen.

If I wanted to do this book writing thing full time I needed to get organized and get writing.

I now start with an outline for whatever I may be writing. A blog post, article, a book or a ghostwriting project all start with an outline.
