THERE’S Hollywood, and then there’s real life. Hollywood looks like this: Maggie Smith, the British grande dame of film, is starring in a new comedy called The Lady in the Van, about a homeless elderly woman who parks her beaten-up 1957 Bedford CA van in a stranger’s driveway and lives there for 17 years.
This week, my guest was writer and author Doreen McGettigan. Doreen has written for several Philadelphia area newspapers and magazines. She is a freelance journalist, award winning blogger, content writer, ghostwriter, speaker and an author. Until recently she worked as a caregiver forthe elderly most of whom are in Hospice Care.
Doreen M. McGettigan released her second novel last week, a heartrending, new biographical book, “The Stranger in My Recliner.” As the old saying goes, truth is often stranger than fiction and this book tells a true story that is so incredible, it may be difficult for some to wrap their heads around how it all could have happened.
