Friday Fragments/The weekend version…

Friday Fragments…

Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for a stand-alone post, but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations, “Heard” items, and other small gems (hint: a notebook is helpful) and put them together in a Friday Fragments post. Leave me a link so I can read your fragments!

We are having the best February weather here in Philadelphia. Last Sunday we took a ride down the shore with 3 of our grandkids. It was 70 degrees! A lot of people had the same idea, the beach and the boardwalk were both SO crowded. Our favorite pizza place on the Ocean City, NJ boardwalk is Manco & Manco’s at 9th Street. That location is moving into a larger space onto the corner of 9th and the boardwalk. The old location was closed. Their other location had a line 2-hours- long, IN FEBRUARY!

I can’t shake the feeling that there is a blizzard in our future. March blizzards do happen here, that old ‘in like a lion thing’…

I got to see the preliminary illustrations for the cover of my next book, Realize Your Writing Dreams. When I see the covers starting to come together it starts to feel so real. I’m getting excited. Hopefully I can share the cover soon.

The rest of the week I was so busy, the week flew by.

The SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrator’s) confirmed I will be presenting a two-day workshop at their June conference.

Have I said lately how much I love being a writer?

Today was my birthday and also the 3rd anniversary of my dear friend, Joelle’s passing. I still miss her so much. I know sadly, from experience that although I can still feel her, I will never stop missing her. I kept staring at her favorite painting today. It was done by Simon Bull and there was just something about it today…

My grandkids sent me flowers and they arrived at the perfect time today. My granddaughter told me they asked for so purple flowers because it’s my favorite color and my birthstone. They are beautiful!

FX finally released season 4 of The Americans. We are so crazy. We’ve watched 7-episodes in 2-days. The new season starts March 7th. This show is so believable, it’s terrifying. The writing and acting is incredible. It’s definitely, a good binge-worthy series.

John and I decided that Keri Russell who stars as Elizabeth Jennings, the married DC suburbs mother of two who owns a business with her husband and also happens to be a KGB officer/spy looks like Elizabeth Montgomery, from Bewitched. Elizabeth is her name on the series too.

Nashville CMT shocked me this week. Why did I not hear that Connie was leaving the show? The episode was emotional. I don’t know if I’m more angry or sad. I can already imagine where they are going with the next few episodes.

It’s going to be a working weekend for me but the fun kind of work.

Spring training started. Do I dare hope for a better season than last?

Have a blessed weekend,

Doreen

  1. We had gorgeous weather all last week (temps in the 70s) until Thursday when the temps went down, and then and on Friday, we got SNOW. It was crazy. But the snow is almost all gone now and it looks like spring is right around the corner!
